Oh little Annie, you did a wonderful job on your cupcake smash, I’m so proud of you and your big girl smile!

There were two things Katie {her mom + my SIL} and I knew we wanted to incorporate into the cupcake smash: a tasty decorated cupcake and a bright pop of color along with the fun teal tutu we used during her newborn photo session.  I do on-location natural light photography so that means finding a simple but pretty spot for a cupcake smash takes a little thought.  On picture day we went into Coralville’s new Scratch Cupcakery and what we found were the nicest people, pretty cupcakes and a perfect place to “smash and shoot”. Thank you to the sweet ladies working that day!  They let us use the space by the window for our session and even cleared off a cake stand so we could use it as a prop!
