Boudoir sessions have become popular because more and more women have decided that there is no reason they shouldn’t be pictured in the romantic and airy images so prevalent in magazines, film, and advertising today.

This is something I really wanted to do after I turned 30 but I was nervous. Ivy made me feel so comfortable. She and her assistant were fun loving and outgoing and made the entire session so much fun. The photos turned out beautiful, classy, artistic and made me feel so good about myself! About 2 months before you want your finished product in hand. I book out a few months or more so contact me as soon as you know you want to shoot.
When should I book my session?
That is to be expected. Me telling you I have been shooting intimate boudoir photos for years won’t make the nerves go away but trust me, once you arrive and you are in the chair with my stylist getting your hair and makeup done sipping a mimosa while we visit as girlfriends, you will relax a few notches. then when we are shooting, you will see it’s actually work! I’d schedule a good massage the next day to alleviate the new muscle fatigue you may discover after being in new to you poses. Honestly we keep it simple and fun but we also want to create killer images so it’s a bit of work and play.
I’M NERVOUS ABOUT BEING ALMOST NAKED IN FRONT OF A STRANGER
Anything and nothing! We will get into the nitty gritty of what you personally should wear during your consult but ultimately my clients wear a pretty bra and panty set, something they feel confident in! Blouses, bustiers, hosiery, high heels, bare feet, see through robes, the bed sheets, booty shorts, cheeky undies and thongs. Nothing is off limits. We want you to shine!
Depending on how long your session is will dictate how many outfits we can photograph. Usually 2 an hour, sometimes 3.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
My specialty is photographing women in anything they want to wear: birthday suit or business suit. We start with the outfit that gives you the most coverage and work our way down to lingerie at your comfort level. We will go over all of this at your consult.
DO I HAVE TO BE NUDE?
We shoot at the beautiful hotel Chauncey in downtown Iowa City. There is gorgeous natural light and a monochromatic designed interior. Each room is HUGE so we have plenty of room to get creative.
WHERE DO WE SHOOT, DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?
The Barely by Ivy experience is an all inclusive session which means you get a hotel photoshoot with me, professional hair and makeup, the retouching of your images and the in-person photo viewing when you place your order plus the initial planning consult before your session. The experience starts at $2950 and includes: all that's listed PLUS a 20 image album with Digital Files
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Hell no! You are going to look amazing. Thank you for thinking all the women I photograph look like models, they are not models and you saying they are is a compliment to me as a photographer. I’m a woman, I’m not a model and I know what I want to look like in photos and so I’m pretty sure I also know what you want to look like in photos. This is my profession and my expertise is photographing women. I will direct you the whole time, you just need to show up!
