Iowa City | Portraits by Ivy Rochelle

Hello Gorgeous!

We are loving the beautiful winter wonderland created here in Iowa this week.  When the trees are flocked I can’t help but take photographs so today on my way to a consult I stopped a couple of times and snapped a few with my phone.  I have been sharing them over on Instagram and that links to facebook and twitter.  It would be great fun to connect with you over there so be sure and introduce yourself and say hello.

Today I want to share with you a few pictures from a recent just-for-me set.  Ever since the first time I stepped into Clinton Street Social Club I knew I had to do a shoot there.  The classic tile work, exposed bricks, repurposed chicken feeders for as lights and so many other elements called to me.  It is so neat!  You must see it.  Anyway,   all I needed to do was get a few models, a stylist for hair and make-up an assistant and a wardrobe stylist.  Getting permission to shoot there was another box to check off and set the date plus find clothes for the style I was looking for and then pull it all together.  As with other model shoots, it sounds easy on paper but as soon as you start to get it together you realize it is a bit of a workload to take on during your busiest season.  That is why my November session is just now hitting the blog.

In the end, the shoot went beautifully.  Brian Vogel, owner of Clinton Street Social Club, was generous and kind in letting us use his location during the off hours.  As with any venue, my team takes the utmost care in leaving the place just as it was when we arrived.  If someone is willing to share with you then you should at the very least take care of their stuff.

We were also fortunate to have clothing from Tru Style‘s location in Coralville.  Julie, the owner, has the newest styles from several stunning brands with Free People being one of my favorites!  Many of the outfits you see are from her place at the Iowa River Landing.

One of our newest team members is Samantha Dove.  Sam is always dressed in the most adorable get ups!  She talks all things fashion and beauty over on her YouTube station Little Grey Dove.  Keep an eye out for her as she takes over the web with her style and know how.  See her latest post about 2014’s beauty favorites while you are there.  Sam is available to style your shoot on request and she must be booked in advance.

My two beautiful teammates were there keeping me going as usual.  Liz from Elegant Airbrushing by Liz was getting everyone ready with hair and make-up and Breanna was doing anything and everything in between including keeping me hydrated, fed and reminding me to take a bathroom break!  I have come to learn that having a supportive and talented team not only helps me the photographer out but really amps up the experience for my clients and models.

You will get a chance to see all my models but today we are starting with Reid and Christine.  One of the hottest couples!!!  They are so in tune with each other and are never more than a couple feet apart and that was just for the pictures.  It truly was romantic and intimate to see them interact in front of my camera and off camera.  This is what I would wish for every couple, a love and respect and complete connection with your spouse or significant other.

Thank you Reid and Christine for coming from so far away to help me with my concept shoot Moody Romance, you fit the bill perfectly.  And thank you to all who contributed to that day.  It was exactly as I hoped and so much more.

Cheers~Ivy

PS, I snuck into one of these shots–can you see me?

These images have not been retouched, yeah, they look like that in real life 🙂
